A: In the fourth petition (which is, Give us this day our daily bread) we pray, That of God's free gift we may receive a competent portion of the good things of this life, (1) and enjoy his blessing with them. (2)

  1. Proverbs 30:8. Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me.

  2. 1 Timothy 4:4-5. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
    Proverbs 10:22. The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
